What sort of projects does the FBCT support?

We only fund projects which align to our Charitable Aims of improving the lives of residents of Bedfordshire through:

  • The advancement of health and saving of lives
  • The promotion and support of arts, culture & heritage
  • The alleviation of poverty
  • Access to education and training

We don’t give grants for individuals unless an eligible organisation applies on their behalf, and we will not fund any activity that does not provide direct and demonstrable benefit to Bedfordshire residents.

About the grant-making process

The FBCT offers two grant levels: Micro grants between £500-£2,000, and Main grants between £2,000-£9,999 for more substantial activity lasting up to one year (until May 2024). Each has its own application form, so please be sure of which level of funding you would like to apply for before starting an application.

All administration regarding grant applications is currently undertaken by the Bedfordshire & Luton Community Foundation (BLCF). To discuss the eligibility criteria, get help developing your application or for any other enquiry, please contact the BLCF for more information [Application link to go here].

The application window is open from January to March, though it may close early if the maximum number of applications is reached, with funding allocations awarded by May.

Is your organisation eligible for a grant?

If you think you might be eligible for a grant, the first step is to check whether you fulfil all of our funding criteria:

  • You are a not-for-profit organisation making a real difference to the people within the community
  • Your activity or project will involve residents who live within Bedfordshire
  • You have a constitution or other governing document, and a committee of at least three unrelated Trustees/Directors
  • You are not applying for retrospective costs or as a direct replacement of statutory/public funding, and you do not hold a significant amount of free financial reserves
  • You are not using the funds for an appeal, sponsoring, or raising funds to redistribute to other causes
  • You understand that you will need to commit to providing information for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
